dream beautifully

so i've been spending a lot of time thinking about interior decorating and what i would like my future apartment/home to look like. i began with what i want to center the whole room around and came up with animal print!  i love love love everything leopard, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, etc. & always have! i have old pictures of me as a kid wearing leopard pants even! (i will spare you...)

sooo i decided to share with everyone a few of my inspirations :

my absolute favorite is the zebra on the stairs, how cute is that!
so subtle, yet with such an impact

love love love love !

& yes! i love yoga and this is so darn cute =)

that's it for now, but i can see it all coming together in my head with tan painted walls, dark hardwood floors..... i digress

day in the life

nothing monumental has been happening for a few days: hanging around, wearing some clothes... the usual.

i have been on the manhunt for a new job recently and have been running around getting my resume out there. this is what i wore today for resume handing out & follow up phone calls... and a chinese food dinner followed by babysitting.

Silk Top: Thrifted J. Jill
Leggings: Target
Shoes: Henry Ferrera; Ebay

my shoes, my shoes!! these are probably my favorite pair of flats i own, so comfy and they add a bit of toughness to any outfit.

my hair is a complete mess because there was a crazy thunderstorm here this morning, lucky me...
i would be the one applying for hair stylist positions with hair that is a frizz ball. [i swear it was straight this morning]

tomorrow is my bacci's 80th birthday party, we rented a limo and are taking the family out to dinner. =)

hope everyone has a grand weekend !

catch ya on the flip side!

success !

well as quick as it came, the 4th of july weekend is in the past.

my weekend was picture perfect and included lots and lots of fun!

but first.. an outfit picture !

please excuse my face, it was a long day ..

dress: forever 21
sandals: jc penney

i decided to wear something breezy and cool for the 4th considering it was very hot and humid outside today.  i started the day off in a navy blue romper and a red belt with the same shoes as above, but got hot and uncomfortable after watching the parade so i changed.

my day included watching the parade, two cookouts and a very exhausted me.
first cookout was with the parents of the twins i babysit, they are just like big kids! johnathan and i have so much fun with both the twin girls (who are 6) and their parents! there was a lot of their family their and we all had a marshmallow fight instead of toasting them for smores as intended!  but as usual, it's always fun and games until someone gets hurt...  we ended the game with two crying boys with marshmallow welts... woops.

here is the aftermath of the marshmallow fight...
they're everywhere !

audrey decided that it was a good idea to dump a whole bag of marshmallows on the ground...

then finally, some smores making took place

no picture taking took place at the second cookout, so i'll just share one last picture from the weekend before i depart...
baby you're a firework!!

how was your 4th of july weekend?

03 July, 2011

happy 4th of july weekend =)

the 4th of july weekend is quite possibly my favorite time of the summer.  cookouts, fireworks =), family & friends fill my days to the brim and there is nothing to do but have a good time.  every year that i have been with my wonderful boyfriend, i have spent the actual 4th of july with his family.  a parade goes directly by his grandparents house and the whole family gathers out on the front lawn to cheer it on.  blueberry muffins, coffee and juice are always plenty. and the kids run to catch the candy and wave their flags as the firetrucks drive by with their horns blowing loud.

last night my very dear friends and i gathered for a bonfire filled with smores and fireworks.  it was very successful seeing as no one set themselves or anything else on fire =).
i will be back after the 4th with a picture recap of events !!

summertime and the livin's easy...

places: serenity down the street

where i live there are lots and lots of land reservations and coming from a long line of cranberry farmers (my great-great-great grandfather was A.D. Makepeace) i simply love everything about the outdoors.  my long-time (4 1/2 years) boyfriend, johnathan and i have found a new love for a reservation called redbrook/lyman reserve.

this beautiful place holds many different trails, all of them being clear, clean and beautiful to walk through. one particular trail that is our favorite is a beach trail.  it starts at the parking lot and leads to a secluded beach on buttermilk bay.  johnathan finds his peace here by fly fishing, his favorite stress reliever and hobby.
while johnathan fishes, i enjoy running on these beautifully cleared trails.  there are so many trees enclosing the trails that it provides a cool running experience. (i hate running when it is hot outside. i just can't do it).  running every trail and back to where you start tallies up to be about 3.5 miles, a good run if i do say so myself.
this place is amazing, let me tell you. this tree that naturally fell across the river connects one side of a trail to a different trail that is not part of the redbrook/lyman reserve.  this trail is rarely traveled probably because most people wouldn't want to walk across this tree just to see what is on the other side (johnathan and i are a different story, we like the adventure)

everyone needs a place that calms them, a place to go to when the weight of the world seems to be on your shoulders, a place to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures that nature can bring.

this is my place...
